Social service group was started on 2nd October 1998 at NELORE of Andhra Pradesh,India.
The following programs were organized so far:
1. Anti AIDS campaign:
We have distributed the literature supplied by AIDS control project to the public.
2. Pulse polio program:
We have distributed literature on pulse polio and participated in pulse polio vaccination program.
We have focused on slum areas and conducted door to door campaign and provided polio vaccine to the poorest of the poor families.
3. Food program at Mother Theresa home:
We have many times sponsored this program and provided food to the inmates of mother Theresa home.
4. Distribution of bed sheets:
We have distributed new bed sheets to the poor and unfortunate people who are sleeping in the cool winter nights in platforms of the Nellore town, without having bed sheets.
We have been continuing this program every year for the last 10 years.
5. Donation to vatsalya:
We have donated money, books, toys, food and other necessities to the less privileged children of “VATSALYA” a local destitute children home at Nellore.
6. Anti smoking campaign:
We have conducted anti smoking campaign in Nellore town APS RTC bus stand and in local private city bus services. We have distributed pamphlets and announced through mike.
7. Sweets to lepers:
Every year on the occasion of sankranthi festival we collect hundreds of sweets (arisa) and go to Bethesda leper’s colony near Amancharla and distribute them to the lepers and their family members. We have collected new and old clothes and distributed to the lepers.
8. Training programs:
We conducted training programs on 1. Leadership 2. Public speaking 3. Personality development to the volunteers of social service group.
9. Health campaign:
We have conducted health awareness campaign to sensitize on various health areas. We have distributed 10000 pamphlets to the public on health.
10. Traffic safety campaign:
We have conducted traffic safety campaign and distributed hundreds of pamphlets to educate the people.
11. Gender sensitization:
We have conducted work shop on problems of women and solutions
12. Blood donation:
We organized blood donation program and 47 volunteers have donated their blood to IRCS blood bank.
13. Public meeting against violence and obscenity in films:
We have conducted public meeting against the violence and obscenity in films.
14. Campaign against Animal sacrifices:
We have conducted awareness campaign against the animal sacrifices in local festival in Venkatagiri Town.
15. Competitions to students:
We have organized many competitions to local college students on various themes like elocution, essay writing, quiz, etc.
16. Food distribution program:
We have been providing food to the sick, suffering and those who can’t work and beg on every Sunday in Nellore town since February 2004.
We would like to make it daily program very soon.
